BAD NICK // by Hughie Shepherd-Cross and Nathan Brown // 4th Week HT20
'The most outstanding feature of Shakespearean comedy is its pervading obsession with marriage' - Harold Bloom
Shepherd-Cross and Brown throw caution to the wind again with this brand new comedy about divorce.
Nicholas Martin’s wife Nicola Martin has left him. She’s shagging the butcher. She said she wanted to focus on her career, and now she’s shagging the butcher. Her career isn’t even in the butcher industry; she’s a travel writer. And she’s shagging the butcher in their very village. She hasn’t even travelled beyond Church Road. He’s been a novelist for twenty-one years, and he hasn’t even finished his debut novel.
Nicola Martin has left her husband Nicholas Martin. She was seriously supportive of his career, in fact, she wrote every one of his novels. But the night after his fourteenth Man Booker prize she packed her bags and walked until her past was just a blip in the far, far distance. Which was why she was fairly surprised when she stopped to see a familiar sign advertising a 30% discount on beef loins.
